Reprogramming a laptop

  Woof 14:00 09 Mar 05

I have a laptop that is loaded with MS98 and I wish to upgrade to MS ME. The laptop only has a floppy with which to save data and this would mean countless disks.

Can I use the Dos method from 'A' eg ren c:\ progra~1 old progs. and vitally ren c:\my docs old docs.

Thanks for any help.

what you really want? Transfer data out or install new OS on top it.

Yes, but why not right-click on the folders, drag them to where you want, let go and, from the options, choose Copy. That will copy the contents of the folders to new folders called "Copy of . . "

If your laptop has USP ports, then I suggest that you use a USB flash drive to hold the data. A 64M drive is £6.49 inc VAT and poatage click here
