Replacing IE6 with Firefox

  ChrisP 12:20 27 Dec 04

I have installed Firefox without any problems. I understand that IE6 cannot be removed from XP, but should I do something to inactivate it in order to avoid any Spyware, Trojan, etc., attack? Or am I safe provided I don't use it?

Hi ChrisP. All you need do is set FireFox as your default browser. If you're worried, then try setting Internet Explorer security to High.

Set FireFox as your default browser. You'll still need IE to access Windows Update as Microsoft won't let you use the site with FireFox. Also, consider installing click here which adds some protection to both browsers. Hope this helps.

Many thanks to all. What quick replies! I am much re-assured. I am also installing SpywareBlaster as recommended.
