replace hard drive

I will soon replace my hard drive, what would be the easiest way to transfer windows from one to the other or would i be better off doing a complete reinstall.Thanks inadvance for your help.

If your current pc is running fine you could clone your drive to the new hdd.

If its been a while since you last installed your OS,I would suggest a clean install.

Over time the OS becomes sluggish and unresponsive,the more apps you install etc etc.

But make sure you back up all your data first and verify.

If you would sooner keep the current install of your OS with its configuration and setting, including all the current apps and data,you could clone the HDD using ACRONIS True Image or another similar piece of software

thanks for quick reply, i'v always reinstalled in the past but worry about vista oem rules concerning re-activation. would i have any problems do you think ?

I believe you can reinstall and activate your OEM copy of VISTA on a new HDD,as long as you are still using the original PC it was supplied with.

Any issues with activation you would need to phone Microsoft.

I have phoned them numerous times,never had any bad experiences.
