Repairs in Win XP Home

I believe there is a repair facility built into Win XP Home but I do not know how to find it.Can anyone help? I have been asked to insert the Win XP CD but I do not possess one. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

The process is built in, the info you need is on a bootable disc.
if you don't have one, could you borrow one?

Do you mean the Recovery Console? click here
I think you will need the CD anyway for either the Repair Install or use of the Recovery Console (these are two separate things)

Repair XP by replacing corrupt files

sfc /scannow

in the run box, press enter and let system file checker find and replace missing / corrupt file in windows and explorer. This will take awhile to complete and you may be asked for the CD to be in the drive if windows is not preinstalled on the hard drive.

To get the sfc to look at the pre installed files
