Can i use my win xp disk to repair a media center computer, as the computer wont boot up in any mode. when turned on it goes straight to the safe mode screen, no matter what method you choose it goes to the win xp screen and restarts to the safe mode screen.

Am I correct in assuming that your XP disk is *not* XP Media Center Edition?

If so, then you may have trouble. I tried exactly that procedure a couple of years ago, and I just consistently got an error report that said something like "Incorrect Windows version".

Have you tried letting the computer boot into Safe Mode and then running System Restore back to a date and time before the problem started?

Alternatively, switch on and immediately hold down the F8 key until you boot into the Advanced Boot Options screen. Select "Last Known Good Configuration" and see whether this rolls you back to a working system.

1. "Can i use my win xp disk to repair a media center computer"

No CD must be same as installed version

2 Does it actually get fully into safemode?
If so Start -Run - type msconfig - press OK

Bot.ini tab - make sure the /safemode box is unticked click OK

reboot the machine
