Repair XP

Is there any way of repairing Windows XP Pro?

I think I may have inadvertently deleted a registry item pertaining to the task bar. Whereas before I cleaned the registry unused icons in the task bar were hidden, now they all seem to be revealed.

Right-click on the taskbar and choose Properties...

..and Customize

Done that and all icons are marked "Hide when inactive" in the behaviour column.

Any other ideas?

Windows Restore maybe the next step, then.

How do I do that?

Start, All Programs/Accessories/System Tools, System restore

Or go into Help and Support and type System Restore

I had a the same problem and have just sorted it out by.

Right click on task bar, properties. Make sure you have ticked hide inactive icons. Now click on customize. On the right side you will find behaviour go to each one and change to always hide click OK, apply and OK.

Again Right click on task bar, properties, customize, restore default, OK, apply, OK. You should now have most of your icons hidden.

hopefully you will have the same result.
