Repair Windows XP

I have got a laptop with OS – XP HE, with a single CD restore disc - it will format the HD and install a factory setting.

1. Could I make a bootable CD with the *.CAB files found in C:\I386 folder (approx 83MB) to repair windows XP if the need arises?

2. If so, what other files do I need besides the CAB files?

3. How do I make the CD bootable?

I am NOT a novice, but would appreciate a simple procedure

Thanks David

What is it that you want to achieve? As you have a restore disk, you will get your installation back.

If you like your installation as it is now, use a disk cloning program like Ghost click here to create an image of it.

Another option: save your data, reinstall windows, install your programs, update, create an image and burn to disks.

Thanks for your replies - I thought it would be useful to create a WXP CD in case I need to repair windows, rather than having it totally reinstalled by the "Factory CD. How can I make a bootable XP CD? Thanks David

Use Ghost or Acronis to create a "backup" of your system.... Then just restore the image using the program in windows or using the emergancy recovery disks (that are bootable).....
