Repair for a Canon i850 printer

My Canon i850 printer, only 1yr old stopped functioning yesterday - intermittently flashing green and orange lights (3flashes). Tried to obtain advice from Canon website and customer service - no joy. Info on their site recommends sending the printer back to them in Luton. Interested to know if this is really necessary or should I look for a competent repairer near me in Bath/West Wiltshire.

From the Canon site click here spport section, self help pages. The orange lights flashing three times indicate a paper jam. Remove the jammed paper, set paper in the printer, and press the Resume/Cancel button.

This may be just a small piece of paper jammed in the feed rollers.
