Renaming a windows system folder

Is it possible to rename a windows systems folder. The error message says I can't but is there a way round it?

  Lozzy 09:57 19 Feb 04

No you can not do that.. Why would you want too??

  InCog 10:56 19 Feb 04

Because it's not a very helpful name but I'll live with it.

  Stuartli 11:04 19 Feb 04

I'm afraid you'll just have to live with it...:-)

Just out of interest, which folder are you referring to?

  Jester2K 11:11 19 Feb 04

If you could you'd regret it when Windows can't find hundreds of system files....

If you definitely want to risk it,then install the Recovery Console, and do it with that.

what is the point, you could cause loads of problems.?? WINDOWS , that seems like a logical name to me. why bother changing it???

  InCog 11:50 19 Feb 04

The folder name was chosen by my nephew who built the system. It's not a rude name, it's just irritating; if it was easy to change, then I would but it seems it's not.

The question must be asked as to why standard Windows folder titles have been deliberately changed, as they are named in this form for very valid reasons?

"The folder name was chosen by my nephew who built the system"

do you mean the windows logon name?
