How do I change the filename of an mp3 without making the extension unusable meaning I have to select which program I play the file with?

I was doing it by right clicking and clicking rename..but this doesn't work.

Do not delete the .mp3 part of the file just right click on it place your mouse cursor just before the .mp3 and click then delete the name and type a new one.

yep, timeteam2004 has it 'spot on' - - - name it what you like but make sure there is the ".mp3" bit at the end ( without the "")
