During installation of XP My Documents folder has somehow aquired an extended file name ie 'C:\Documents and Settings\Walter.ATHLON' At the same time the text is light blue colour, which must also be a clue to something. This is a nuisance and as a result I cannot load some software. How can I rename this folder?

Can you not just right click on it and go to rename?

Blue text indicates compressed folders.

Totally-braindead, sorry this file is special and that does not work, hence the problem.
alan227, thanks for the link and the subsequent links, the advice was close but not quite specific and I will investigate there a little further but it seems to want me to auto-reboot XP, but I'm not up to that yet.
ade.h, yes many thanks I have uncompressed the folder and stopped sharing too, but still need to rename the stupid folder. Maybe if I create another 'User' with full rights and then remove the original 'User' I might get somewhere?
