  dontaskme 07:18 24 Feb 03

spybot s&d kept finding it so i have uninstalled wildtangent (no idea how it got there in the first place, probably my brother). i have deleted all the files in program files, but i can't delete the link in control panel.

How do i get rid of things from control panel?

Do you mean in the Add/Remove programs list?

Go Start/Run/ type in

and hit OK in the startup tab untick any entries for wildtangent.

Open your Windows directory, and delete the wt folder.

Delete the c:\program Files\WildTangent directory

I had WilTangent for a while. Like you, don't know where it came from. Anyone know what it is -- what does it do?

ßéŁâ...thanks for that tip, I had WT in my CP as well, 3 files under wtcpl, got rid, cp now clear of WT, but there is other cpl files in there too, what are they for? can they be deleted safely?..cheers

Dont delete them. A .CPL file is a Control Panel Extension: all the icons in the Windows Control Panel are actually a collection of CPLs.

AndySD, noted..cheers

i deleted the wtcpl.cpl file and it has gone.

also found something in backup about it auo updating, might be why it kept coming back.
