hi there,

i have recently moved into a shared student household, with access to one computer. Both myself and my flatmates became aware of the amount of porngarphic pop ups that appeared everytime you look on the internet. we scanned the pc using one of those free internet sites, and found there where some 500 porno material including cookies.

Can anyone recommend a cheap, safe, and reliabe system (from the shops - as we cannot afford to spend hours downloading from the internet on our tariff, we live in the UK )that could trash this material. we have deleted what we can from the history and files and folders, but this does not go when scanned. All we want to do is install a cd that destroys this junk, then uninstall straight away.

Thank you so much for helping, it will be such a relief to be read of this problem!

If you are using Internet Explorer Try going into Tools> Internet options> Privacy, and move the setting to its highest. If its pop-up's that's worrying download this click here,

Hi julie-ann

Ad-Aware=2.5Mb

Spybot S&D=4.2Mb click here

Both can be found on cover CD's but will need updating.

What system are you using & what kind of pop-ups are you getting?

To buy a program would cost more than to download a free one. Ad-Aware is only 2.5 MB that's only about 15 mins of download time to pay for.

thanks again.
will ad-ware delete one time all of the junk on the pc, then can it be easily uninstalled?

It's not just a case of using a program, a lot of it can be sorted with good housekeeping.

Try clearing the internet cache & then read this click here

thanks again everyone- could anyone help me with this particular problem too?

Our pc remembers everything you look at i.e. if in google and you type the letter b or s a list is 'dragged' down showing all that has been looked at. it sometimes remembers credit card details aswell, which is a big worry. The same happens when in 'search - files and folders'. is there anyway that this can be 'turned off'? can anyone tell me step-by-step?

many thanks
