Removing partition without losing the data

  Splodge 11:49 21 Dec 06

I have a Sony Media Centre which insists on dividing my hard drive into 2 partitions.
I also have a backup drive which is smaller. When I use Acronis to back-up it insists on dividing THAT disk too.
I once managed to copy C to the back-up drive with a partition and then copy back and that did remove the partition.
However, I cannot get that to work any more.
Can anyone suggest a cheap, reliable program to do that or is there a "freeby" somewhere?
I have scanned the net looking for a quick fix using Computer Management or something but the only one gave a route I could not find.
I am running Windows XP.

click here have a look here, and here
I use Acronis Partition Magic so I can't vouch for any of these, but it's worth a look.

As it happens, Acronis sent an e-mail giving Christmas offers: I already have True Image v8 and
have upgraded to v10 for £16.33.

This works with Vista so I was able to copy across without worrying about partitions. But thank you! Happy Christmas!
