this is drivin me mental:

i seem to have 2 copys of instant messenger on my dell 8300 running win xp home.

version 4.7 and version 6.2

no matter what i do, v4.7 automatically signs me in when i start an internet connection (i have turned it off in the prefs).

how (or can) i get rid of v4.7??!!

any sugestions would be grand,

At the RUN command prompt, try typing in...

Rundll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove ... and then Click OK

blinding! that did the trick.

now just have instant messenger 6 and it respects my 'dont sign in...' prefs.

thanks for that,
