step 1(a)Start your computer with the Linux Setup floppy disk, type fdisk at the command prompt, and then press ENTER.

I've tried looking on google for the linux setup floppy disk to download since i don't have the linux installation cd rom. But i cannot find it!

My google skills are obviously not honed properly.

Does anyone know where i could get download a linux floppy boot disk online?

"Any DOS or Window$ system can make you a boot floppy with fdisk on it. Or you can just run the Window$ install program and it will erase the partitions for you.
Win98 has a special Emergency Boot / Recovery Disk (EBD / ERD). It has lots of tools, like CD support, so I suggest you get one.

(Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Program$
Then select 'Startup Disk' and 'Make Startup Disk').

Too bad you gave up Linux!"

I'm runnning xp on one computer. How do i do this?
I've looked in (Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Program$) but i can't find startup disk anywhere. Can u help me?

XP does not need a startp disc

Set the BIOS to boot from CD Advanced settings 1st boot cd 2nd IDE0

Insert XP CD and reboot watch for the message press any key to boot from CD then follow the screen prompts to install XP, allow XP to format the drive format the drive.

Assuming you want to set up XP - put in the CD-ROM, boot up from it - and it should guide you through the process of partitioning, formatting, and installing.

You don't really need any other disks.

I presume you do know you can't activate WinXP on two systems with only one product key?

When i do this though, it says that it detects there is another operating system still on the Hd(obviously linux) - even though i've formatted it. It says that windows "does not recommend setting up two operating systems on one partition". If i DO go on with installing xp whilst linux is still on there, would there be much damage?

also, I've been trying to look for a bootable floppy disk that has fdisk on it but i can't find it. Can someone help me find where to download it??

I ended up doing fdisk but apparently i was using win98 fdisk which is why it didn't work!
