Removing Internet Exlplorer

I was having problems with Internet Explorer so i changed to Firefox (which i must say i perfer). The problem i have now is i went to add/remove programs and unticked the internet explorer box in the windows components section and it said it had unistalled but elements still remain. I selected Firefox as my default browser but when i'm in MSN messenger and click the email icon, it launches internet explorer, which still works for some reason. Also the unistall must not have been complete as when XP loads a warning message appears asking if i wish to continue running scripts on the page. Can anyone tell me how i completely remove IE? Thanx

As well as the good reasons for keeping IE in Woodchip's link, you also need to use IE to access and use Windows Update.

You can access Windows Updates in Firefox but you need the IE Tab extension click here

I didn't know that, I use Opera.
