Removing Files

I have just purchased a new computer and am giving my old one to a colleague. Before disposal I want to make sure that all datafiles that I created are removed and can't be retrieved as I used machine for work as well as home use. I want to leave operting system and most of programs on as I won't be needing them on my new machine. What is best way of ensuring that none of files can be retrieved.

Just delete the files and empty the recycle bin. Clear your temp files and unless your friend has some high end forensic gear it will be safe.
