Removing Desktop Icons

I recently posted a message about trying to get rid of an unwanted Virgin.net icon from my desktop. This icon could not be removed in the normal way since its delete option had been disabled - neither could it be dragged into the recycle bin (even in 'safe mode').

However after a bit of searching I was able to combine information from both Microsoft and a site called click here which enabled me to make the necessary registry deletions. So, my desktop is now free of Virgin.net and my thanks to those who replied plus those at activewin.com.

PS - if anyone else has this problem let me know and I'll tell them what I did.
