Remove BuddyList in AOL 9

Does anyone know how to get rid of this? I know about IM Privacy settings, blocking ALL etc, but if you want to use something like "Trillian" to access more than one network (including AIM), it always says I'm already logged on..though admittedly it doesn't actually cause any connection problems, just disconnects one of the instances. I don't want IM starting up as soon as I go online (broadband BTW) y'see.
I'm just hoping there's some option I missed, or a box I haven't ticked or unticked...
Can that port be blocked by XP SP1's firewall just for AOL.exe, leaving Trillian's access to it un-affected? Any thoughts appreciated
