On computer start up svchost.exe always used up to 50% of my CPU.

I think I managed to find the problem as SysMain [Superfetch ]

I have switched it off in Services and sychost.exe is no problem at start up now.

Am I liable to run into any problems with it switched off or is it just a matter of waiting to see what occurs.

Looks like there are different views out there.

This from Vista users.

I am using W/7 and get the impression that it is better switched on than off but it does seem to make start up that bit slower.

I run with it off using a SSD.

I have turned it of on both computers just now and so far no problems.

I will have to check out the 64bit one as there are quite a few programs trying to run at start up.

So will need to check and see if they are all needed.
