If they're just shortcuts on the desktop right click ans delete.

Yes as they'll only open a page in IE. Nothing showing in Programs and features (add/remove) shows AOL or Skype aren't installed.

If you have any unwanted programs pre-installed on your PC, I would recommend using Revo-uninstaller to remove them (the free version) click here. It removes any traces in the PCs registry, which add/remove programs in Windows does't.
