Removable Storage Devices problem

I have a card reader installed on my PC but for some reason the individual slots are not being displayed in the my computer window. I have checked the removable storage console window and although the generic entries are there, each entry has a red cross on it. On putting a card into one of the slots I cannot see it either. Any help with this problem would be much appreciated.

Uninstall and reinstall all the items under USB in device manager.

Also check that Motherboard Drivers have been loaded for the Drives

Hi Fruitbat/woodchip, Thanks for your advice. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the USB drivers and the entries are still not showing.
Woodchip, How do I check that the motherboard drivers have been loaded?

Only way is to reload them. From the Motherboard CD. If you do not have one you should be able to download from "Motherboard Site\Drivers Downloads" For your Motherboard

Thanks Woodchip and Fruitbat. I opened up the case and there was a loose connection on the motherboard, so I pushed it home and now I can see my removable storage drives. Thanks again.
