i have 2 xp home machines networked using a x over cable. I know that remote desktop wont work unless the host pc has terminal services running and it needs to be the xp pro version. My friend has an xp pro disc that came with his pc so if i installed remote desktop from that, would that enable the correct terminal services.

Why not use Real VNC. It works like a charm and you're not adding any complication or infringing any licensing restrictions. click here

click here for a tutorial on how to set it up and use. Remember, you need it on both machines. The physical machine you are at is the client and the remote machine is the server.

If you still have problems, post back.
