How can I connect to my home PC (windows xp) from my university campus (windows 2000)?

I have looked into the default remote access software built within Windows XP, and I believe I can access my home PC via a VPN (Virtual Private Network).

However when it comes to logging onto my home (host) PC; I'm not too sure what my IP address is.

When i run 'cmd' > 'ipconfig /all' I get my IP address, but this is in the form of '192.168.*.*' which i full well know is the defualt IP addresses for home networks. I am currently on NTL broadband, and I assume I have my own IP address for my computer, dynamically allocated.

How can I find this IP address out?
