Reinstalling Windows 7 from upgrade DVD

I want to fit an SSD in my desktop and then do a fresh install of Windows to it. My question is, as my Windows 7 DVD is the upgrade version do I have to install Windows XP first, then wait for updates to load before installing Win 7? Is there any problem with reactivation?

Thanks in advance

Yes. The important line is, Uncheck the Automatically activate Windows when I'm online box , Clean install.
Clean install with upgrade version.

Make sure AHCI is enabled in Bios before you install Win 7. Some useful links here. As for Pagefile I wouldn't lower it unless you have a minimum of 8 Gig of ram. pagefile/hibernation

ssd fresh

ssd life (thank to Chronus)

benchmark

check trim and hopefully you won't need to enable AHCI after installing Windows 7
