reinstalling w98

can u please advise if i can just refresh w98 by poping the cd in and running or do i have to reformatt and will i the lose everything, which is of course what i want to avoid.

put your cd into the tray,go start-run type "sfc" in the box less quote marks and then press ok your system will check your files and reload from the cd any missing or corrupted from the cd.

You can re install w98 over itself.

if you pop in the Cd and run setup it will only change you Win98 OS files and probably set to default settings (OS only)

You will have to reinstall all the Win98 updates. but all your applications will be the same

It really depends on why you want to refresh your Windows 98 installation. In my experience, if your computer is running badly it is unlikely that you will resolve the problem by reinstalling Windows over itself, but if you have some corrupted Windows files it may help.
