Reinstalling vista

The modem and wireless drivers on my laptop are corrupted and cannot be repaired without reinstalling a clean version of vista. However, I cannot restore my hard drive to its initial status. I have a samsung which comes with Recovery Solution Manager, but the software won't allow me to do an basic or complete restore of my hard drive, so I cannot install a clean version of Vista. The Manager gives me no options to restore the hard drive to any status and the basic restore is apparently incompatible with my system. I tried to install a version of Vista on top of the one I already have but once it gets to the end of the second stage of installation it freezes. What can I do!? Help please!
