reinstalling programs from backup drive

Hi All,

Following recent motherboard failure, which also corrupted my primary drive, I'm now reinstalling my progs on a clean drive (+ new different m'board). XP pro and most progs have gone on fine, but I have some progs on my backup drive for which I no longer have access to the installation files. How can I install these programs onto the new system?

Secondary minor question... when I open windows explorer the 'tree' always expands to my start menu (C:\documents and settings\ user>\start menu), how can I set it to expand only the My Documents folder, which is usually where I need to be.

Many thanks,

Peter

1 - if you don't have installation files, you will not be able to restore the programs.
