Reinstalling device drivers

After having to reformat the hard drive I am trying to install the Neomagic drivers for the display on my Tecra 8000 laptop so that I can get the full display back. I have downloaded and unzipped the drivers from Toshiba web site but when I try to install them Win98 insists that it is running a better driver which is a generic VGA driver. Any advice?

Are you updating the drivers via Device Manager and the Display Update Drivers from its Properties?

You might need to do it from Safe Mode.

Thank you, I had originally tried to install the driver via Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced or Control Panel/Add New Hardware. Using Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Display Manager was successful. I will now install all the other device drivers!
