Registry and Windows Protection Fault In Win ME

  poogles_uk 20:29 01 Mar 03

Recently when i start up my computer it says there is an error in the registry and to fix it it must be restarted. I restart and the blue screen comes up saying windows cannot start up due to Windows protection fault, it say to restart, it loads into safe mode fine but not normal Windows. I have a program called PQDI (Drive Image) which i use to restore backups from a couple a days ago as System restore doesn't work.

Can anyone help?

Can't you use the Drive Image floppies that you undoubtedly made when you installed DI to restore one of your Images?

No i havent the floppy disk as it went corrupt and i didn't install it. Yes i do this but it is annoying, is there no other way to stop it?

Do you have more than 1 RAM module? If so try removing one at a time to see if it may be a memory fault. I had constant similar problems and it was down to a faulty DIMM
