Registry Repair

  prima12 13:35 12 Feb 03

I have recently had a lot 'unable to access registry' when booting up, and have had to install a previously good registry. I have tried to run scanreg/fix, but get a message 'cannot find file'. It was there quite a while ago, any ideas where it may be and how to get it back? I am running W98se. Thanks, P.

scanreg/fix..did you put a space between scanreg and /?

Also try scanreg/restore pic an old date

I typed it in the 'run' box exactly as you have typed it in your reply, no spaces. I don't have a problem finding a registry entry to install, only trying to repair the current entry.

Sorry about this, there has to be a space between scanreg and / it should be this

scanreg /fix

Apologies for misunderstanding

Anything you enter after scanreg should have a space and a slash, e.g.

scanreg /fix

scanreg /restore

Typed it in with the space and got the message 'Cannot repair the registry from Windows. Shutdown to DOS and run scanreg.exe /fix.' Not quite sure how to do. P.

It's me again. I knew I had seen MSDOS somewhere so I went looking and found it. I did as it said and the registry has been repaired, thanks to all of you that answered my call. P.
