Registry constantly corrupted???

Hi all,

i have a machine on win98 se which the registry gets corrupted on every couple of days. I have tried disk imaging and various other things but to no joy.
Can anyone shed any light onto this as to what it could be?
I was thinking of banging xp pro in it but not sure if it will still give probs

I came across this problem on a friends machine with Windows 98se, but didn't find a cause. A reformat and reinstallation of Windows cured it.

tried that one four times.
i was wondering if i put xp on would the problem still be there?

Hi hinchie Y2K III. If reformatting and reinstallation doesn't cure the problem, then it must be due to hardware or some software you are installing, in which case XP will not be a cure. I just remembered that in the friend's computer I also found that one of the two sticks of memory was slower than the other and was removed, so you could check to see if you have a similar situation.

Hi gongoozler, just managed to install xp on it.
It turns out that the virus program was causing the conflict somewhere along the line.

thanks for your help anyway
