I want to register a .com domain name with the intention of creating an online smf discussion forum.

Looking for advice on who to use and who to avoid.

1and1.co.uk and find them as good as any.

Thanks for the response. I would not use 1and1 to host the site for a number of reasons. However, I've no problem in registering a domain name with them.

Avoid Web Mania. I have had endless problems with them.
However I second 1&1.

I have used 1&1 for ages. Never had any real problems with them, except a confusing email once.

123 keep telling me that I am a customer of theirs, but I haven't been so far.

I'm not closing the thread until I've had 1,000 responses, lol!

What's an smf forum?

Heart Internet click here

Often recommended in the Webdesign Forum and used by FE - I followed that recommendation and have about 30 domains registered there for clients and friends. I`m not interested in saving an odd quid on cheap domain names and they know I can control everything for them through my own Control Panel on their behalf.

smf forum = click here

It's a free alternative to vBulletin.

Thanks for the reccie, Taff™.

I totally agree with your stance on bot being bothered in saving a few quid. It's very often just false economy. I will definitely be checking it out.
