Regedit won't run

The automatic uninstaller for a prog didn't finish the job off since on then trying to re-install the prog it offers the opportunity to "remove" (which fails) rather than "install" (which I want). I followed the manufacturers directions to manually remove all except for the bit about killing a reg entry - regedit comes up but only for a few seconds then goes away ie I can't get to use it.

Incidentally, the reason I was uninstalling my prog in the first place is because it (an anti-virus prog) was doing exactly the same thing!!

Anyone seen this and got an answer please? Win 98.

but perhaps using a registry cleaner will get rid of the offending entry and enable it to work again properly.

Powertools, free from click here is very good.

Good luck,

Thanks for the thought. I've grabbed that download and will take it home to try later today.
