When I opened My Documents I see there are lots of file like reg files they have title.... 1952884reg there are dozens of them, what are they and how do I deal with them?

Thanks in advance

If they are *.reg chances are they are registry backups created by ccleaner, another system utility or the Microsoft registry editor.

You could open one with Notepad and see what in it - do not double click as this could change the Registry but right click and select Open with -phrases like [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE] will prove it.

If this is the case these are not the Windows copy of the registry so can be safely deleted but it might be worth checking the file dates to see how they got there in the first place.

Thanks Jim

Opened with notepad this is part of one example
do you think it will be OK to delete them?
I do have c cleaner and fixit utilities 9 installed, but have not had this problem before.

Jim
I have randomly clicked through them and all seem to be connected to Greenstreet software which I recently uninstalled

  Sea Urchin 17:47 15 Jan 09

You presumably have the Greenstreet Art & Craft program - these are some form of back up from that. Delete them if you don't wish to access the backups in the future.

  Sea Urchin 17:48 15 Jan 09

Cross posted - then that answers my question - delete.

  Jim_F 18:01 15 Jan 09

Thanks for posting back - it looks like this is actually an install/uninstall log - not information I'd expect to see in the registry even though it has a Regedit header!

I agree with Sea Urchin - this is safe to delete.

I wish software installers would use the .log extensions for log files !

Thanks Guys

Ill do it now , looks so untidy..lol
Thanks again

Oh dear
I closed this post before I tried to delete files, when I try to delete them by
> highlighting > move to recycle bin, they are not disapearing in fact in seems as if there is another copy placed there. The same amount or more where there after five mins of deleting
whats giong on

Thanks

How are you deleting them? If you are trying to drag them then this can cause multiplication. Highlight them all and right-click and delete.

I think it is some sort of an automatic update process of the Art and Craft program modules (of which there are many)
When GreenStreet Art and Craft is installed in Programs there are also entries in My documents under differing folder names.

I installed the same program on another pc and there are folders in My Documents, including .cab files and update modules. It seems to be a very complicated setup.

I have been looking for the 'uninstall' but can't find any, only the option to uninstall from 'Add / Remove' in Control Panel.
I wonder if you have to stop the Automatic Update processes before you uninstall?
