Reformatting and XP HE

Sorry, put this query in wrong folder: here goes again:
My compute( running XP Home,)is getting sluggish and I want to reformat and reinstall XP. Can I simply boot up with my XP cd, reformat, then reinstall? My Home is an upgrade. Won't I need to have a 98 cd or some other acceptable os?

If it is an "upgrade" and not the full stand-a-lone version, then you can't format the system with the disk (shouldn't in anyway).... First format the system using the "Windows 98 Start-up disk" and then run the win98 installation... Once win98 is installed then use the upgrade disk in windows, not in BOIS!!!

You may do but i have installed straight from the upgrade cd without it,i always put cd in and go through the install process then delete the active xp partition, and start again with a NTFS format and install.
