I am trying to reformat my laptop before installing xp home.

However when I get to the point below I can get no further

C:\>FORMAT C:
CAUTION: All data on non-removable disk
drive C: will be lost!
Proceed with Format (Y/N)

I type Y and press return, and after a second or two am confronted with

C:\>

once more!

Any suggestions?

Dave

Are you using FDISK?

There is no point with Windows XP as XP makes it very easy to delete and create partitions. And to format them.

Do you know how to boot from the Windows XP CD? If you do then this is best way to do what you what. If you don't post back :-)
