reformat xp HD to restore backup image of HD

I have installed xp home I also have installed rollback rx.I have made a image back up of my
c drive I been trying to work out how would I go about refomatting my hard drive so I can restore the backup image.

I have xp disk but I not sure if I can only delete and format the hard without carry with
the install

I tried fdisk but that showed FAT instead of ntfs so I ended up doing a complete reinstall
using the xp disk then restoring the rollback rx image.

Can anyone help me please or point me to web addresses?

RollBack Rx installs to the master boot record, which loads prior to the Windows operating system, this allows a hard drive to be reverted even in the event that the operating system is unable to boot.

If you format the disk or use Fdisk you will change the masterboot record and lose your recovery.

Did you create a recovery disc when doing your backup?

Hi Fruit Bat/\0/\,

yes I've done a recovery disk to use with the rollback rx .sorry I forgot to add that to my post.

I am just trying to work out how to format the hard drive first without having to use the xp disk.
