am reformatting hard drive with 2 partitions c & d.
will use dos reformat, will d partition be reformatted as dos command is for c only

  stlucia 12:29 16 Nov 04

You need to use fdisk to partition your disk, and create the drive letters (C:\, D:\, etc.). Then you use format to format each partition you've created.

  Smegs 12:43 16 Nov 04

NO, it will only format C:\. You will be able to format D:\ within Windows.

  woodchip 12:48 16 Nov 04

If you have two partitions you do not need to use FDISK. If you are on Win98 start with Startup Floppy disc and at a:\> type Format C: follow the onscreen prompts. You should have all the Drivers for your Hardware before doing the above Including Motherboard,Graphics,Sound, And others

If you need 2 create the partions then you will need to use FDISK to do this then format the partions. If the partions are already there then you can just reformat straight away. Like woodchip said thou make sure you have all the drivers for your hardware b4 u start

what o/s are you using?

  brigtoo 16:30 16 Nov 04

w 98se which will be replaced after format. can i also get rid of the "D" partition and rename the whole h/d as "C" during the reformat. if so how?

  Rayuk 18:07 16 Nov 04

Just use fdisk delete partitions reboot then format whole drive as C.

  Rayuk 19:01 16 Nov 04

after deleting parttions reboot into fdisk and create a Primary Dos partition and make the partition active reboot and format
A much better idea is to have a lookclick here
