red "x" in top left corner instead of image -why?

I had this problem before , but I can't remember how to fix it now... When I use a website , such as multimap that has to load an image for each page that I view -it works normally for a while , but then instead of the image , there is a red "x" in the top left corner , and every page after that is the same ... why is this happening , and how can I fix it?(I use spybot+ad-aware regulary-+ I have not altered the internet/graphics options recently)

have you had a look in your firewall to see if you are blocking 'Microsoft Generic Host Process for Win32'
