Recycle bin shortcut

I haven't touched anything honest! However, on booting up this morning the icon no longer has "recycled" written under it and it doesn't work. Gone into Windows and created another shortcut to the bin (yellow folder icon)this works. What's gone wrong. Done a search but after reading many previous threads this one isn't mentioned. Running 98SE. No viruses. No new programs.

Do you use TweakUI?

It sounds like a file corruption, Bald Eagle, sometimes re-booting cures the problem. If it doesn't then go to Start > Run type sfc and replace any missing or corrupt files, you will need your Win98SE disk.

Alternatively you could try to restore a registry backup. To do that re-boot to a command prompt by holding down the Ctrl key while starting your computer, from the menu which appears, choose "Command Prompt Only". At the command prompt, type "scanreg /restore" (without the quote marks), choose a recent good registry backup and restore it.
