Recycle Bin deletes

After a possible Trojan , I find anything sent to the Recycle Bin in Windows XP,completely deletes.
The Recycle bin seem intect and opens OK, but remains empty. Therefore anything which I delete cannot be recovered easily. Can I repair this function using my original XP cd? How do I do that? Can anyone please help? Thank you.

Right click on the 'Recycle bin' icon and ensure that:

1. the option to '...remove files immediately when deleted is not ticked' or

2. That space is allocated on the drive (default seems to be 10%).

Hope this helps.

the foregoing suggestions, you could try putting your XP CD in the tray, closing down the screen that appears, then go Start > Run > type in ( or copy and paste ) sfc /scannow. Note the space between sfc and /scannow.
