Recurring Error message when installing Windows XP

I've tried everything I can think of and can come to no solution other than my motherboard has a fault. If anyone can suggest another solution that would be great.

I'm trying to install a clean copy of XP as I am giving this pc to my brother. Previous installs have gone smoothly, no probs. The system boots from the cd and setup starts. After a few seconds I get the following error:

'Mountmgr.sys is corrupted'

I then have no choice but to reboot.

I have tried the following:
- Used different XP cd's. All have been verified to work when installing on other machines.
- Used different cd drives. Again all have worked before and are fine.
- Used alternative IDE cables/sockets
- Resetted the BIOS to defaults.
- Flashed the BIOS to a newer version.
- Installed XP on the hard drive using another pc. No problems installing but windows will not boot when the hard drive was placed back in the faulty pc (kind of expected that really)
- Checked all jumper/BIOS settings.
- Lowered the bus speed back to normal, previously was overclocked.

My system:
- Duron 750
- Gigabyte 71XE4 motherboard
- 256 PC133 RAM
- ELSA Gladiac graphics card (Geforce 2)
- Creative soundblaster 1024 sound card
- Seagate 20Gb hard drive

I can think of anything other than that I need a new motherboard! Please help...

Try setting the fsb to 100

I have changed the fsb back to 100 and it made no difference.

Tonight I'll try copying the install cd to hdd and installing from there, as the link suggests.

thanks
