Recovery query

It just occured to me.. I bought a Gateway computer with XP media on it at the time Vista was being introduced. The computer was Vista-capable and I was in time to order an upgrade CD. So I'm now using Vista..but in the event of a computer breakdown/crash, what would I have to do? I have the two CDs, the Gateway disk and the Vista Home Premium Upgrade disk.

You can do a clean install from the upgrade disk (at least you can on the Business version). Install in the normal way but doen't enter the Product Key and remove the tick from the Activate Now box.

Immediately you've installed it and before anything else. Install it again from within Vista and this time enter the Product Key.

Thank you Spartacus. I have copied that link to Favourites and it's useful to have in case. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but i've been out watching seals on the coast...
