HiIs it ok to make a recovery disk using a dvd-ram disk or should i just use a cd-r disk.I am going to make a recovery disk as i have recently purchased a computer with windows 7 on it,and it came with windows 7 preinstalled?
I think you would be better off using a 'normal' DVD disc.
To clarify - RAM discs, as I expect you know, can be re-recorded, similar to VHS tapes, so your backup could easily be wiped accidentally.
Did the manufacturer not supply you with a recovery disc / recovery partition of some kind with related recovery instructions? What happens if you need to repair or reinstall the OS? Did you ask them?I agree with Nontek about using a standard DVD blank - DVD-R or DVD+R. G
Most new machines with pre instaled windows - give you a "one time" make a recovery set of disks option in the start menu.Use normal DVD -R disks for this option.
