my computer crashed a few weeks ago & would not load normally, in safe mode or by using the windows repair feature.

i've no problem with reinstalling the drive but i want to recover my documents, family photos & game saves & program settings saved in my user folder within 'documents & settings' folder.

i've used another hard drive installed with xp home to access the unpassworded files i wanted to recover (fonts etc) but cannot access my user files in 'documents & settings'.

obviously i know my password but windows does not offer a prompt just denies access.

any help would be greatly appriciated.
