Recovering files from a hard drive.

This follows on from my recent thread 'no video input signal'. click here As my wife needs a PC to do her school work, we have purchased a new Hewlett Packard PC, which I am in the process of setting up.

In the now defunct PC, on the hard drive, are a number of files which my wife needs, but were not backed-up before the PC died. What is the best way to transfer these files and her email address book etc from the hard drive to the new PC? As far as I know the hard drive is not damaged only the motherboard.

You could add the hard drive as a Slave, then move the f8iles over.

Or, place the drive in a USB Enclosure to do the same.

Thanks Technotiger. I think I shall go down the USB enclosure route, as I don't want to invalidate the warranty on the new PC by adding another hard drive.
