Recover My Files

Have got 3 hard drives in my computer and have had 2 of them which after trying to install linux (which failed) turned to RAW from NTFS and I appear to have lost the files.

Anyway, downloaded Recover My Files and searched for files on one of the drives. Before I pay for it firstly,

- is there anything which will recover files for free?
- if i do use Recover my files will I be able to save the lost files to the same drive (currently RAW)? The search says it found 'recovered NTFS partition' but does that mean it will put all the files back to the same drive and create an NTFS partition or will i have to save them somewhere else?

Another free one. click here
Generally they copy the files to another disk, rather than reconstructing the file system that was already present.

Thanks I will try those links.

However, I do want to be able to reuse my hard drive. It is currently in raw format, how I can I reverse it to ntfs?
