Recover lost data

I had a word document open but i think i must have forgot to save my work before closing it as i can not find it now, somebody mentioned to me that the computer may have autosaved it or i might be able to recover it some way does anyone know if this is possible. Thanks

Firstly though you might like to look at your temp directory and see if there are any temp files dated the same as the loss (\Documents and Settings\%UserName%\Local Settings\Temp). Word can autosave (assuming this has been set up, and the location is usually C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Word

there is a auto save function in word to save your work every amount of designated minutes under tools,options,save.
